Ingredients
  

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses

Instructions
 

  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1 tablespoon ground ginger, 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  • Cream Butter and Sugar: In another bowl, beat 1/2 cup unsalted butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar until fluffy. Add 1 egg and 1/2 cup molasses, mixing well until combined.
  • Combine: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together. Chill the dough for at least 1 hour to make it easier to roll out.
  • Roll and Cut: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes.
  • Bake: Place the cut-out cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown. Allow to cool completely before decorating.
